Happy New Year!!!! I hope everyone holidays were wonderful and you were able to spend quality time with family and friends.
Well much has not happened on the sewing front. I must admit my sewing mojo took a little dive. I’m not sure why, but all of a sudden I just didn’t feel like sewing. I’m not sure if it was because I had a lot happening with work and home (repairs) or if I just didn’t feel like sewing. Does this happen to anyone? Usually when this happens to me, I make myself press through it. This is also the time when I make my most mistakes. So this time, I decided not to sew. But that did not kept me from gathering.
What is gathering? Gathering is a term I use to describe my fabric purchasing. Although I didn’t feel like sewing, it didn’t impact me from purchasing fabric. I have made purchases from Moods, Fabric Mart, Vogue Fabric and Fabric.com. Mostly wools, some silks, lining and my first leather purchase. Now I’m happy with my leather purchase, but I doubt I will purchase leather online again. For me, I need to see and feel the skins. I won’t take up space with pictures, I will debut as I go along.
Oh, I also made a trip to the
French Seam in Indianapolis,IN over the holidays. This is a new fabric boutique that recently opened. I had been trying to make time to go there all year. It’s only 1hr 15min away. Now I have to tell you, even though the pictures on the website look great, I didn’t get my hopes up. Just in case this ended up being quilting fabric and 3 bolts of fashion fabric (no offense). I was pleasantly surprise. There were wonderful wools, knits, silks, cottons and a sale. Linda has premium quality interfacing’s and PETERSHAM!!!!(basic colors) The store has a boutique feel to it. What I like most next to the fabric, is that my purchases were wrapped in tissue paper, placed in nice handle bags and brought around the counter and placed in my hands. Great Service and I will be visting often!!!
The last thing I did during this time was outfitted my cutting table. I have been debating whether to buy a new one because I desire more storage by my cutting table. I also wanted something that looked nice. Well, I didn’t want to fork up the $1000+ for a Horn of America or Koala cabinet. So here is my solution for $275. Here is a before of my cutting table from a previous post.
The Container Store is having their annual sale on Elfa storage system. I configured the drawers system to fit my needs. Voila, I love it!!!! I have plenty of storage for the items I like to have at my cutting table and more. I also added a basket on the side to hold all my rulers.
Well, I’m happy to report the mojo is back and I’m ready for Renee’s Sewfest 2013. I am formulating a list and I’ve started an outfit I will blog about later this week. As far a recapping 2012, I’m just saying I sewed!! LOL.
Until Next Time……Keep Sewing!!!!
