I won’t bore you with details of my work life. Just know if I’m gone for a minute or two, work has infringed on my sewing time. However, I did manage to squeeze out a skirt. I also managed to purchase some fabric, notions and books. But I’ll talk more about that later.
Well in my last post, the plan was to show the fabrics that I purchased in New York. Since that seem like ages ago, I decided I will show them as I sew them.
Now, I love shirt dresses especially in a knit. So when I saw McMcalls M6520, I was excited. I’ve been looking for a print that would take me into the fall and I found just the print. I was in my local JoAnn’s stocking up on some notions (50%) and came across this rayon jersey print. This was perfect. A little lightweight, but my thought was underline it.
So my quest for underlining begin. I looked at tricot and swimwear lining and I didn’t like the feel and weight of either. I happened to be bumming around on emmasone sock and saw a category for stretch linings. Boom!! There it was, jersey lining. A 4-way stretch jersey micro knit with a silky hand. I immediately ordered my introductory 3yds in cream. It was as the British would say ” spot on “. I’m planning to stock up in the basic colors.
Here is what my dress looks like so far. I’m on vacation this week and I’m spending it sewing. Stay tune for more details and the finished dress.
Until next time………keep sewing!!!!
