The Interim Sewing Machine Part 2

First, I want the thank everyone for all the nice comments on my blog. Much appreciation!!  I have to say each time I have worn my LBD, I have gotten compliments and head turns from gentleman (old fashion).  Hummmmm….maybe I should wear it to Lowe’s. LOL!!!! Just kidding.

Actually, I have been thinking about refashioning Vogue 1250 into a blouse/top.  I really like the drop neck collar and think it would make a great blouse.

Well, an update on the sewing machine.  I have decided to purchase Brother PC-420 from Allbrands.  I have ordered from them in the past and like the customer service I received.   Plus, they offer to match a lower price.  Sears had the lowest price (443) and Allbrands agreed to match the price.  So, I will place my order Monday.  They guarantee 3 days shipping, so I should have my new machine on Thursday.  Because I know myself very well, I scheduled vacation time for Friday.  I thought about just leaving it packaged until I get home from work Friday.  But here is what would happen Thursday night.  I would be in bed trying not to think about the machine.  Then I  would think okay, I will just unpack it and get it situated on the sewing table, then I’ll go back to bed. Then I would think again, okay I’ll just get it threaded, then I’ll go back to bed.  Then I would think again, okay I’ll just see how it does on a straight stitch, then I’ll go back to bed.  That would continue, I would look up and it would be 5:00 am.  Now my days of going to work with just 2 hours of sleep are over.  I would have to have to  my caffeine via IV.  So, Friday will begin my “Let Get Acquainted Weekend”. Now if this machines comes before Thursday, I got problems.  LOL

Since I decided to get an new sewing machine, I haven’t had the desire to sew on my current machine. Plus my machine has been acting out.  Skipping stitches, thread puddles at the begin of the seam and being difficult about tension to name a few.  She is ready and I’m ready for her to retire. lol.  So, instead, I have been thinking about Fall/Winter sewing.  The first item on  my sewing list is a red trench coat with black piping and a black & white lining.  I have to decide whether I want a single or double breasted and set in or raglan sleeves.  Here are the patterns I’m considering from my collection:

Misses Jackets
Simplicity 2508
M5525
McCall’s M5525

I also want three wool jersey dresses and two suits. (jacket, pants, skirt).  I haven’t worked out colors and patterns yet. I will be picking up some fashion magazines this weekend to get a pulse for the Fall/Winter and inspiration.  Well that all I have for now.
Until next time……keep sewing!!!
