PR NY Weekend Part 1 – What I Made

Instead of trying the to include everything about the PR New York weekend in one post, I thought I would post in two parts.

So in my Pre-PR Weekend post, I talked about the items I was making
to take with me.  Well the question is did I complete everything?  Yes, with some adjustments to the list.

First the dress for the dinner changed.  The fabric that I ordered came in time, but wasn’t what I expected.  Bummer, that is one of the disadvantages of online fabric shopping.  Especially, if you don’t order a swatch first.  So, I decided to take my little black dress.(V1250)  Now, here is a pictorial of the items I finished and took with me.

Disclaimer:  I do not know what was up with my facial expressions in these pictures.  Don’t hold it against me. LOL!!

This is Vogue V8649, a custom fit top that includes A-D cups.  I love this pattern.  I was a little skeptical about the fit.  But the D cup fit perfectly.  The only adjustment I had to make was to shorten the top.  I cut a 20 in the top and graded to a 24 in the hips.  I used a rayon/poly animal print knit.  The pants is Simplicity 2700.  I made these in a dark brown cotton  sateen. I started with a 22 curvy and added 1.25 inches in the hips, shorten for petite height and raised the back for full hips. Overall the pants are good, but I prefer the fit of Sandra Betinza pants pattern.
The pants is V2913 an out-of-print Sandra Betzina pants pattern.  I have blogged about this pattern. I made these pants in a off black denim.  The blouse was suppose to be another V8649 blouse.  But, I realized this blouse would be the perfect match. It has different shades of gray, off black a white.  Remember the very popular V1250 last year? Well this is V1250 in a top.  I made the dress and decided to covert that pattern to a top last year.  I paired this was a white cotton jacket from Talbots.

This is Butterick B5682.  I made the trouser jeans.  I made the same adjustment as I did in the Simplicity 2700.  The fit was okay, I don’t think the cut is good for my figure.  The cardigan is from Talbots.
So far this year I have tried three different pants patterns.  What I’m seeing is that pants without side pockets are more figure flattering for my plus size shape.  I have one more pants pattern to try and that is Jalies 2909 classic trousers.
Well, that is what I completed and took with me to New York.  Next up is my weekend in NY.
Until next time…….keep sewing!!!!!!
