Vogue V1220 Part1

Last Friday I received the navy cotton Lycra sateen from fashion fabric club.  I was a little nervous about ordering this fabric.  I wasn’t sure the navy was going to be as dark as I wanted. But because everything I’ve ordered from fashion fabric club I have liked, I went ahead with the order.  I wasn’t disappointed, the navy was as dark as I hoped it to be.

This week I begin working on the dress. I’m making this dress up in a muslin first to get a better bearing on the fit.  This pattern is labeled as loose fitting.  I know the for vogue patterns the ease for loose fitting in a dress is 5.5-8 inches.  For me this sometime means I do not have to add additional inches in the hip area. I can sometimes get away with not making the adjustment and not impacting the design ease of the pattern.  I’m hoping this will reign true this time as well.

I’m not as far along as I would like. Work sometimes just gets in the way of things. LOL!!  But some progress is better than no process.  Tonight, I finished making the women’s petite adjustments and cut out all the pieces in muslin. Tomorrow I’m hoping to get the muslin sewn and make any adjustments that maybe needed.  The goal this weekend is to have my dress 3/4 complete.

A side note.  I realize tonight that I am out of navy blue thread. I am usually well stock in basic thread colors. For the life of me, I can’t figure out how I missed not having navy blue thread.  Oh well, it happens!! LOL

until next time………keep sewing!
